Earth Day officially falls on April 22!
It's a day on which we celebrate the life-sustaining resources our planet provides year-round. It’s a time to reflect on the daily habits that help conserve and preserve our natural resources, including water.
MAKE EARTH DAY EVERY DAY
Making small, sustainable changes in your daily life can have a significant impact. Here are some simple actions to make every day Earth Day, backed up by the Environmental Protection Agency:
Turning off the tap while brushing your teeth saves eight gallons of water each day, and turning it off while shaving can save 10 gallons of water per shave.
Replacing inefficient fixtures like showerheads and faucets can save 2,700 gallons of water per year—the equivalent of 88 loads of laundry.
Collecting rainwater to water your plants.
Fixing leaky household pipes, which can waste approximately 900 billion gallons of water annually nationwide.
Letting your faucet run for five minutes while washing dishes can waste 10 gallons of water and uses enough energy to power a 60-watt light bulb for 18 hours.
What else can we do?
Here are suggestions from The Nature Conservatory.
This Earth Day, let’s take a moment to reflect on the shared responsibility we have to protect the planet. Our actions, no matter how small, contribute to a healthier future for all. Together, we can ensure a healthier future for our planet!
